Knitting Projects part duex

I am in the process of making headway on several Christmas presents.  One of these projects is going to be the Three Irish Girls Samovar Shawl.  I picked up this pattern at my local yarn shop and can hardly wait to get started on it.  I will also be using this pattern to create a baby blanket.  It should be really interesting, this will be the first time that I've ever done cables.

The colorways that I'm using for the Christmas present verson of this pattern are McNamara (which is the first photo here) and Saoirse (Seer-Sha) which is the second photo.  I haven't started this project yet.  I need to finish the Miami Vice shawl first, I need the circular needle that I'm using for that project.

Beautiful, beautiful colors! Knitting is something that I really need to learn to do as it seems like a lot of fun, and, well, you get to wear awesome creations that you made yourself!

That's a great idea for a Christmas gift! I did that one year; I made beanies and matching scarves for the kids in the family. I would love to be able to make a shawl like the one you're doing but I've never done cables.
