Announcement! The Great Move!

You may have noticed the lack of posting here on The Eclectic Bookshelf for the past few months.  I have come to the harsh (for me anyway) that Blogger no longer works for my book blogging needs anymore.  I took a couple months sabbatical from book blogging and on January 1 I acquired 2 book blogs from a friend of mine who had to give up book blogging for personal reasons.

I am in the process of merging these two blogs into 1 blog because I just don't have the time to maintain 2 book blogs with all the life changes that are coming up in the next couple of months.  The blog that I will be keeping is called The Book Junkie's Bookshelf and will hold reviews for books in the following genre's:

• YA
• Mystery/Thrillers/Suspense
• Romance - Historical, Contemporary, Suspense, Paranormal
• Erotica
• Urban Fantasy
• Fantasy
• Dystopia

If you wish to follow me to The Book Junkie's Bookshelf I have many methods for following the blog available.  There is Feedburner available, follow by email, a Facebook page (which is updated whenever I post), my new twitter handle (@paracryptkeeper) and lastly a "regular old" follow option.  I'm hoping to "see" some of you there.

I will continue to post the link ups for the challenges that I am hosting here at The Eclectic Bookshelf until the end of the year.  Then I will re-evaluate which challenges I will keep and which ones I won't be keeping.

Packers/Steelers Football Sunday

It's Sunday and that means it's GAME DAY!  I'm a football fan and I have an AFC and an NFC team.  My NFC team is Green Bay, my home state team and my AFC team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Happy Game Day everyone!

Operation Debt Reduction blog

I've created a new blog about my mission to eliminate as much of my credit card and personal debts as soon as possible. I've been struggling with this for many years and now that I'm getting closer to 30 years old I think it's time for me to put my big girl panties on when it comes to my finances.  I'll be moving my money related posts from this blog to the new blog shortly.

I'm Flying Solo again

As a result of somethings that are going on in "Bumps" personal life she has decided to step down from blogging.  So I am flying solo again.  I'm in the process of making some changes to the blog and working on some reading challenges for 2012 as well as few other things as well.  I'm also looking for someone(s) to critique the blog as it is right now and let me know what you think and feel free to offer some constructive criticism.  If you are interested in doing this you can email me at rutrow01@gmail.com and you can also send your critiques to this address as well.

A feel good story....

We all know that professional athlete's have this "reputation" for being shall we say "above the rest of us" sometimes.  I can honestly say that after reading this news story, I realize that in some cases that "reputation" is undeserved.  This news story is about a little boy in Florida who had a 35 minute seizure and has been pretty much confined to a wheel chair since but recently with the help of the Jacksonville Jaguars (I'm not a fan but hey, I'm a sucker for a good feel good story) he was able to something pretty remarkable. 

I teared up and then I watched the video and teared up again.  I'm just really glad that there is a lot of good going on in this crazy world of ours.

2012 Reading Challenges

We (Jamie and Bumps) are in the process of putting together our 2012 reading challenges.  You will see several challenges that Jamie has hosted in the past and maybe some new ones too.  We've already posted the sign up for the 2012 YA Reading Challenge and will be working on more throughout the week.

I, Jamie, want to thank my blogging partner for being so organized and already has all the review posts scheduled for the YA challenge.  I wish I was that organized!

Coming Soon! A Bloggy Pal!

Starting on Monday July 4, I will have a blogging partner here on Bumps in the Road.  My new blogging partner will be my good friend (in real life) Jamie from Jamie's Bookshelf. From what Jamie has told me, she has been looking for a way to turn her love of books, knitting, digital photography and life in general into one blog, without it feeling like a job....That's where I come in.  So far there is a lot of book related material on Bumps in the Road but as a team we're going to turn it into a book/crafty/personal blog.

For the time being any giveaways here on the blog will be done by me.  Due to Jamie's efforts to get out of debt she just cannot afford right now to contribute to the giveaways.  I hope you'll check out my Divergent giveaway that ends on July 7.
